Rootstock is a cooperatively-produced blog authored by the farmer-owners, staff and friends of CROPP Cooperative. We have a wealth of hard-earned wisdom and a wonderfully unique culture that we can’t wait to share with you. We are mothers and fathers. We are gardeners and farmers. We are health and marketing professionals. We are cooks and (avid) eaters. We are the people of CROPP, and Rootstock is our gathering place.
You’ll see a little bit of everything here—gardening and cooking tips, farm stories and office mischief; as well as news about the organic industry and official statements from CROPP about issues affecting organic food and farming. Through this blog, we want to share our culture and inspire meaningful conversation about food, farming and the world we live within and are charged to protect.
What is CROPP Cooperative?
CROPP Cooperative is a farmer-owned cooperative and parent of the organic food brands Organic Valley and Organic Prairie. We’re a co-op on a mission to not only produce the best organic foods in the world, but to save family farming culture through organic farming. Why is this important? Why, to make sure we’ll have a next generation of farmers—preferably, organic farmers—of course! When it comes to paying our farmers fairly, we don’t compromise.
The views expressed in this Rootstock blog, while they may be from the farmer-owners, staff and friends of CROPP, are not the views of the cooperative unless indicated by an “On the Record” button. You’ll see this button when we want to announce important news or provide a statement from our CEO about an important issue. All other contributions are the express views of the author.
