Wow – it has been a week.
The fire was just 4 days ago – and there is so much to be thankful for.
I am thankful for the safety of our employees – their rapid exit from the building made it easier for the fire fighters to go after the fire instead of rescuing people.
I am thankful for the 9 fire departments that deployed to our rescue, and the respective chiefs in charge, I am thankful the fire-fighters were all safe at the end of the blaze.
I am thankful for our former head of IR, who demanded a better server room for our equipment, and our ability to build that room with our new addition, which meant we were up and running in the business in 24 hours.
I am thankful for our customer service, production, distribution, pools and quality teams who kept the milk flowing, and answered phone calls with personal cell phones – working long hours to make sure they were able to take care of our farmers.
I am thankful for the people that arrived on the scene to help with cleanup – there are so many – that I cannot list you all, but blessings to each and every one of you – for the work you have done to help.
The men and women who came in to clean the buidling were amazing to watch. Thank you.
Thank you to all the family members of the employees who were impacted – for comforting and being patient while they are working some incredibly long hours, or in the case of those waiting to return to work – for helping them know this too will pass.
Many of us lost things, some lost all of their work papers, and even deep histories and files – that encompassed their careers – – I am sad for us for these losses. Though even with these losses I can give thanks for the wonder of humankind working together to heal.
