Once again this year on September 25 in Baltimore, the Organic Trade Association will be recognizing pioneers and leaders of the organic industry. I had the honor to receive this award in 2010 and it was fun and also humbling. As I looked around the room that evening, so many attending were leaders and pioneers so it was especially moving to be recognized by my friends and peers. This year’s recipients – Arran and Ratana Stephens from Nature’s Path, Kyle Mathison from the Stemilt Growers of Washington State for the Organic Farmer of the year and Karen and Colin Archipley, Rising Star farmers – exemplify the passion and devotion to organic that makes our industry so special. And, not only will these wonderful folks get recognized, they will get a colorful and unique award that will brighten up their desks and give miles of smiles for years to come. I am especially thrilled that my award survived our fire at our HQ and now sits proudly at my new office. Thank you OTA from all of us!
