Ripened spelt

Spelt harvest has arrived!  Our farm decided to start growing small grains about 10 years ago in hopes of getting some feed independence for our cows.  Instead we discovered a vocal local market who wanted to buy locally produced flour and we haven’t looked back since.  All our grains are grown and milled on farm and then sold in local stores.  I rode with Brent on the combine late yesterday afternoon.  Watching cows eating lush pasture on one side and seeing the fat spelt heads going into the combine head through the windshield convinced us that all is right with the world.
