As the last of the snow melted in La Farge, snowdrops of the botanical sort briefly took its place.
I had never seen snowdrops before. Although Galanthus was new to me, I found that it is referenced into ancient history. The snowdrop may be the herb moly that Odysseus took to protect himself from the enchantress Circe.
A perennial, the snowdrop is similar to a tulip in that it grows one plant with one blossom from a single bulb. Bulbs grow and split to create more plants. Some types of snowdrops are endangered, so be careful before you pick any. I satisfied myself with some pictures.
